💼 About the Role
As Senior Safeguarding & Reconciliation Officer, you will take ownership of client funds safeguarding, payment reconciliation and settlement controls. You will maintain and improve safeguarding procedures, support liquidity management, prepare regulatory reports and act as a key point of contact with the local supervisory authority. The role combines hands-on financial operations with ownership of regulated processes and close collaboration across finance, payments and compliance.
🔍 Responsibilities
Reconcile daily payment transactions and settlements across internal systems, bank accounts, payment partner reports and accounting records;
Take ownership of the client funds safeguarding process, ensuring the safeguarding framework, controls and procedures remain compliant with applicable regulatory requirements;
Review, maintain and further develop safeguarding policies, procedures and internal controls, identifying gaps and implementing improvements where required;
Monitor incoming and outgoing payment flows, identify discrepancies and coordinate timely resolution;
Control payment card transactions, including commission and fee accounting;
Oversee EKS transaction control, settlement account balances and liquidity needed for settlements;
Prepare financial, statistical and regulatory reports for supervisory authorities;
Act as a key point of contact with the Bank of Latvia on matters related to safeguarding, regulatory reporting and relevant supervisory requests;
Take ownership of the preparation, accuracy and timely submission of relevant regulatory reports and supporting documentation;
Produce daily, weekly and monthly finance reports and support data accuracy in accounting records;
Track regulatory changes and drive the implementation of required updates to safeguarding and related financial control processes;
Prepare information for internal controls, external audits and supervisory authority requests;
Work closely with accounting, IT, payment operations and compliance teams to keep daily processes reliable and efficient.
🎓 Requirements
Higher education in finance, economics, accounting or a related field;
Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial controls and payment accounting;
Understanding of payment services, FinTech operations and electronic money institution processes;
Hands-on experience with client funds safeguarding within a regulated financial institution;
Practical experience with regulatory reporting and working directly with a financial supervisory authority;
Good understanding of safeguarding requirements, regulatory controls and the ability to review and develop related policies and procedures;
Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail when working with financial data;
Good Microsoft Excel skills;
Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style;
Professional English skills suitable for working with financial documentation and cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
Experience in a bank, electronic money institution or FinTech company;
Experience with EKS and Latvian Bank electronic reporting systems;
Experience using data analysis or visualization tools such as Power BI;
Familiarity with regulatory reporting, audit support or client funds safeguarding controls.
