🌍 About the Company
The company is an established FinTech software provider with more than 19 years of experience developing technology for banks and regulated financial institutions.
Its international engineering teams build secure and scalable platforms supporting payments, banking operations, financial integrations, and backoffice processes across multiple markets. Reliability, auditability, data protection, and operational resilience are central to the systems being developed.
💼 About the Role
As a Senior Java Backend Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of backend services supporting payments, banking operations, integrations, and internal backoffice systems.
You will work independently with business and technical requirements, design practical solutions, and deliver production-ready features with minimal supervision. The role involves close collaboration with product owners, QA engineers, DevOps specialists, architects, compliance professionals, and other engineering teams.
This position is suited to an experienced engineer who can identify risks, clarify incomplete requirements, make sound technical decisions, and remain responsible for solutions after their production release.
The role is fully onsite from the Vilnius office.
🔍 Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
Take end-to-end ownership of assigned features, from technical analysis and solution design to production release and ongoing support.
Build secure, scalable, and maintainable REST APIs for banking, payments, integrations, and internal backoffice systems.
Develop services within microservice, distributed, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
Integrate internal and external systems through REST APIs, message brokers, files, queues, and database-driven workflows.
Work with PostgreSQL and other relational databases, including data modelling, query optimisation, transactions, locking, and performance analysis.
Write clean, readable, and testable code supported by unit, integration, and API tests.
Participate in technical design discussions and propose practical, maintainable solutions.
Investigate production incidents through log analysis, debugging, data validation, and observability tools.
Improve existing systems through refactoring, simplification, stronger abstractions, documentation, and better observability.
Work with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-ready environments.
Build systems with security, auditability, data protection, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience in mind.
