The company supports merchant onboarding, settlement, pricing, risk review, and payment method coverage across multiple European markets. Southern Europe is an important growth area, with Italy seen as a particularly valuable market. The role suits a business developer who understands payments and wants to own new market growth with a clear commercial mandate.
💼 About the Role
As Senior Sales / Business Development Manager - Southern Europe, you will generate new merchant pipeline and sell acquiring services across low-risk verticals. You will focus on building relationships with e-commerce businesses, platforms, PSPs, and merchant partners in Southern European markets. The role requires strong independence, structured CRM work, and the ability to translate merchant needs into practical payment solutions.
🔍 Responsibilities
Build outbound pipeline across Southern Europe, with a strong focus on qualified merchant opportunities;
Sell card acquiring and payment processing services to low-risk verticals;
Identify merchant pain points around approval rates, settlement, pricing, onboarding, risk, and local payment methods;
Manage the full sales process from prospecting and qualification to proposal, negotiation, and closing;
Develop relationships with merchants, e-commerce platforms, PSPs, and local payment ecosystem partners;
Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, activity notes, and pipeline reporting;
Work with internal onboarding, compliance, risk, and product teams to move deals forward;
Track Southern European payment trends, competitor positioning, and local merchant expectations;
Contribute market feedback that helps improve acquiring coverage and commercial positioning.
🎓 Requirements
3+ years of B2B sales or business development experience;
Background in payments, acquiring, PSP, fintech, e-commerce, or merchant services;
Proven new business development experience in the region;
Good understanding of card acquiring, local payment methods, settlement, pricing, onboarding, risk, and compliance basics;
Experience selling to merchants, PSPs, platforms, or digital commerce businesses;
Strong CRM discipline and structured reporting habits;
Professional fluency in English;
Ability to work across markets with limited supervision.
Nice to Have
Italian language skills and experience selling into Italy;
Existing network in Southern European payments or e-commerce;
Experience with cross-border acquiring or multi-currency merchant services;
Knowledge of local payment preferences across Italy, Spain, Portugal, or nearby markets.
