System Administrator (Payments Infrastructure, Vilnius)
Support critical payments infrastructure and contribute to its transition towards Linux and KVM.

The client is a Lithuania-based payments technology company working with POS terminal networks, transaction routing, and acquiring infrastructure. This is a broad System Administrator role focused on supporting business-critical technology infrastructure and ensuring its stability, availability, and secure operation.
The current environment includes Windows-based systems and Hyper-V virtualisation, while the company is gradually moving towards broader use of Oracle Linux and KVM. Linux administration skills are therefore highly valued, and the person joining the team will have an opportunity to contribute to this transition. The role is primarily office based in Vilnius. Since the company supports critical systems, occasional night work may be required and is compensated additionally.
🔍 Responsibilities:
Administer, monitor, and support business-critical server infrastructure across the existing environment;
Work with Windows and Linux-based systems, depending on the infrastructure and service requirements;
Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot systems to ensure stable and reliable performance;
Manage file systems, user and group permissions, processes, services, and system configurations;
Support basic network configuration and troubleshooting across TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and SSH;
Work with the existing Hyper-V virtualisation environment, including virtual machine administration and troubleshooting;
Contribute to the planned migration from Hyper-V towards KVM and broader adoption of Linux-based infrastructure;
Work with Linux distributions such as Oracle Linux, RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux, or similar where applicable;
Use Bash scripting for automation and operational support where relevant;
Support system updates, backups, monitoring, maintenance activities, incident resolution, and technical documentation;
Participate in planned maintenance or incident-related work outside standard business hours when required.
🎓 Requirements:
Practical experience in system administration and supporting server infrastructure;
Good understanding of operating systems, services, permissions, processes, and infrastructure administration;
Linux administration experience is highly preferred, particularly with Oracle Linux, RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux, or similar distributions;
Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and SSH;
Experience working with Hyper-V or another virtualisation platform;
Knowledge or practical experience with KVM would be considered an advantage;
Bash scripting knowledge would be considered an advantage;
Understanding of backup and monitoring concepts;
Careful, structured, and responsible approach when working with systems where stability and uptime are critical;
Willingness to work primarily from the office in Vilnius.
