Our client is an established FinTech technology provider delivering banking and payments infrastructure solutions to regulated financial institutions across Europe. As the business continues to scale its platform and expand its data capabilities, they are looking for a Data Engineer who can transform complex financial data into trusted, business-critical insights.
In this role, you will work at the heart of a modern banking ecosystem, helping build the data foundation that supports payments processing, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making. 🔍 Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable batch and real-time data pipelines supporting banking, payments, customer, and transactional data;
Integrate data from core banking platforms, payment networks, financial messaging systems, and third-party service providers;
Develop robust data models that power operational reporting, financial analytics, risk monitoring, AML processes, and regulatory reporting;
Build and optimize ETL/ELT frameworks ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Implement automated data quality controls, monitoring, lineage tracking, and observability across critical data flows;
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Operations teams to deliver production-grade data solutions;
Ensure data governance, security, privacy, and compliance requirements are embedded throughout the data lifecycle;
Support self-service analytics initiatives by creating reliable, well-documented datasets and semantic data models;
Contribute to the development of the company's cloud-based data platform architecture and engineering standards;
Continuously identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and platform improvements.
🎓 Requirements:
3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, ETL Developer, or similar role;
Proven experience working with high-volume transactional, financial, payments, or regulated industry datasets;
Strong SQL expertise and practical experience with modern data warehouses and relational databases;
Solid Python development skills for data processing, automation, and pipeline development;
Experience designing and operating cloud-native data solutions in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud environments;
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT methodologies, dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and analytics architecture;
Hands-on experience with tools such as Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark, dbt, Kafka, Event Hubs, or similar technologies;
Familiarity with payments and banking standards such as SEPA, SWIFT, ISO 20022, Open Banking, or card payment ecosystems would be highly advantageous;
Strong focus on data quality, reliability, security, and engineering best practices;
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across both technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.
