The client is a well-established, fast-scaling FinTech Payment Institution supporting international online businesses with complex payment needs. As the company accelerates expansion across Europe and global markets, it is appointing a Head of Sales & Business Development Manager to lead commercial growth. This is a hands-on leadership role with full ownership of merchant acquisition, revenue strategy, and long-term account development. You will work directly with mid-market and enterprise merchants while shaping sales direction and execution. 🔍 Responsibilities:
Define and execute the sales and business development strategy across EU and selected global markets
Own end-to-end merchant acquisition, from market entry and prospecting to contract signing and expansion
Build, manage, and prioritise a high-value pipeline of mid-market and enterprise merchants
Lead complex sales cycles involving Pay-In, Pay-Out, PSP models, acquiring, and local payment methods
Personally close strategic and high-revenue merchant deals
Establish scalable sales processes, reporting frameworks, and performance metrics
Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities to maximise merchant lifetime value
Collaborate closely with product, risk, compliance, and operations to optimise onboarding and solution fit
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and senior-level merchant meetings
🎓 Requirements:
5+ years of experience in payments, PSPs, acquiring, or payment gateway sales
Strong merchant network within eCommerce, Gaming, Digital Services, Retail, or Entertainment
Deep understanding of cross-border payments, alternative payment methods, and e-wallet ecosystems
Track record of closing complex, high-value commercial deals
Strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution capability
Fluent in English and Russian; additional European languages are a strong advantage
Comfortable operating in fast-paced, scale-up FinTech environments
