The client is a regulated Electronic Money Institution operating across the EU and selected non-EU markets, providing card payments, IBAN accounts, and core payment services. As card acquiring activities continue to grow, this role helps shape and evolve robust risk and scheme compliance frameworks that support long-term, sustainable expansion. You’ll work closely with product, compliance, and commercial teams, and collaborate directly with card schemes on real-world payment use cases. This is a senior, hands-on opportunity for a payments professional who understands how card ecosystems operate in practice — not just in theory.
🔍 Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain the card acquiring risk framework, covering underwriting, monitoring, and chargebacks.
• Own card scheme compliance management (Visa/Mastercard rules, audits, reporting, remediation).
• Build and oversee the Payments Facilitator (PayFac) risk and oversight framework.
• Lead PSD2 implementation in the context of card payments and PayFac models.
• Assess payment products and client business models from risk, compliance, product, and commercial perspectives.
• Provide structured risk advice on card payment solutions.
• Collaborate closely with Compliance, Product, Operations, and external stakeholders.
• Monitor regulatory and scheme changes impacting card acquiring and PayFac activities.
🎓 Requirements:
• Strong experience in card acquiring risk, payments risk, or scheme compliance within FinTech, banking, or PSPs.
• Hands-on knowledge of underwriting, transaction monitoring, and chargeback processes.
• Experience with PayFac or marketplace payment models is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of PSD2 in card payments and acquiring contexts.
• Familiarity with Visa/Mastercard rules, risk programs, and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to assess complex client business models and payment flows.
• Confident communicator, able to represent Risk in external partner discussions.
• Fluent English; EU regulatory exposure is a strong advantage.
✨ The Employer Offers:
• A senior role with real ownership over card payments risk strategy.
• Direct exposure to acquiring partners, schemes, and complex payment models.
• Competitive compensation aligned with senior FinTech risk positions.
• Hybrid working model with flexibility.
• Opportunity to shape and scale card acquiring frameworks.
• Work within a regulated, security-focused payments environment.
• A professional, collaborative culture with strong cross-functional interaction.
