Our client, an Estonia-based Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) currently progressing through the CASP and EMI licensing process, is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor to provide independent oversight of governance, risk management, and internal controls The company is part of a Global Group – a multi jurisdictional fintech and digital asset infrastructure provider with presence across the EU, UK, USA and Middle East. Company builds regulated rails for digital assets and fiat payments, offering business clients IBANs, crypto wallets, cross border payments, cards acquiring, card issuing and more, all under a single compliant framework.
This part-time role is designed for a senior Estonian financial-sector professional capable of offering objective evaluation, audit assurance, and regulatory-aligned insights during a critical licensing and early operational phase. As the company builds a transparent and compliant operational foundation, the Internal Auditor will play a key role in strengthening controls and ensuring readiness for regulatory review.
🔍 Responsibilities:
Provide independent and objective assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
Review and assess CASP and EMI related compliance processes, AML/CTF controls, operational procedures, and risk mitigation practices.
Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal policies, reporting structures, and oversight mechanisms.
Identify control gaps, propose remediation measures, and monitor the implementation of corrective actions.
Support the Management Board by delivering structured audit reports and risk assessments aligned with Estonian regulatory expectations.
Offer advisory input on audit readiness for FIU/EFSA review as part of the CASP and EMI licensing process.
Maintain independence while collaborating constructively with management, compliance, and governance stakeholders.
🎓 Requirements:
Proven experience in internal audit, risk management, or compliance within Banking, Payments, EMI/API, PSP, or other regulated financial institutions.
Professional background within FIU or EFSA is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of Estonian AML/CTF rules, internal control standards, and regulatory assurance practices.
Recognized audit or compliance certifications (CIA, CISA, ACCA, ICA, CAMS) are advantageous.
Proven ability to evaluate control environments independently and communicate findings clearly to senior leadership.
High integrity, sound judgement, and a strong professional reputation suitable for an independent audit function.
Estonian citizen and resident (mandatory for regulatory and fit-and-proper suitability).
Fluency in Estonian and English, both written and spoken, is required.
