Our client, an Estonia-based Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) currently progressing through the CASP and EMI licensing process, is seeking an experienced Advisory Board Member to support its regulatory, governance, and compliance strategy. The company is part of a Global Group – a multi jurisdictional fintech and digital asset infrastructure provider with presence across the EU, UK, USA and Middle East. Company builds regulated rails for digital assets and fiat payments, offering business clients IBANs, crypto wallets, cross border payments, cards acquiring, card issuing and more, all under a single compliant framework.
This role is designed for a highly reputable Estonian financial-sector professional who can offer independent oversight, high-level regulatory guidance, and strategic challenge during a crucial licensing and early operational phase. With a strong commitment to transparency, consumer protection, and regulatory trust, the company aims to build a compliant and secure digital-asset platform meeting the highest standards expected by Estonian authorities.
🔍 Responsibilities:
Provide independent oversight and expert guidance on governance, risk, compliance, and regulatory matters during the CASP and EMI licensing process.
Contribute strategic advice on the company’s compliance framework, AML/CTF readiness, and operational integrity.
Review and challenge executive decisions from a regulatory, risk, and governance perspective.
Support interactions with regulators (FIU, EFSA) by offering insights into supervisory expectations and industry best practices.
Participate in Advisory Board meetings and provide structured feedback to the Management Board.
Assess key risks, internal controls, and licensing documentation, highlighting improvements as needed.
Act as a trusted advisor for senior leadership on matters related to financial crime prevention, operational risk, and regulatory strategy.
🎓 Requirements:
Proven Advisory or Management Board experience in Estonian Banks or Fintechs (EMI/API)
Prior experience working within regulatory bodies such as FIU or EFSA is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of Estonian AML/CTF standards, risk management, governance practices, and financial regulatory expectations.
Demonstrated independence, integrity, and sound judgement suitable for an Advisory Board role.
Ability to provide high-level strategic insights without involvement in daily operational tasks.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate constructively with senior executives and board members.
Estonian citizen and resident (mandatory for regulatory suitability).
Fluency in Estonian and English, both written and spoken, is required.
