Our client is an international fintech company expanding its presence in Latvia, aiming to obtain an EMI license from the Central Bank of Latvia.
As part of the licensing process, the company is putting together a small team of experienced professionals and is seeking a part-time Chief Financial Officer based in Latvia. This CFO will support the company throughout the licensing process and the subsequent operational phase.
This is a unique opportunity to join a fintech company from the ground up and play a critical role in shaping the financial and regulatory foundation of a licensed EMI in Latvia.
🔍 Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing the financial projections and information required for the EMI license application.
- Contribute to the development of financial governance frameworks, internal controls, and policies that align with regulatory expectations.
- Support budgeting, capital planning, and the design of financial structures to ensure compliance with licensing standards.
- Coordinate with regulatory and advisory partners during the pre-licensing phase to provide necessary financial input.
- Establish the foundation for post-licensing operations by developing a financial strategy, reporting framework, and oversight mechanisms.
🎓 Requirements:
- Minimum of 3+ years of CFO experience in EU financial institutions, with previous participation in the new license application process preferred.
- Resident in Latvia, with full right to work and tax status in Latvia.
- Proficiency in Latvian, Russian & English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Hands-on finance experience — ideally including budgeting/forecasting, regulatory reporting, audit, and financial governance.
- Experience in or exposure to regulated financial environments, or a strong motivation to operate in one.
- Open to part-time engagement and flexible regarding scope and hours during the licensing phase.
