Our client — an emerging FinTech preparing to obtain an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license in Latvia — is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to guide the company through the regulatory application and early-stage setup. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned financial professional to contribute strategic oversight, credibility, and direction during the licensing process — while maintaining flexibility to balance other professional commitments.
🔍 Responsibilities:
Represent the company as the official CEO for the EMI license application process.
Oversee preparation and submission of regulatory documentation to the Central Bank of Latvia.
Collaborate with the UBOs and key personnel (CFO, CTO, MLRO) to align business, compliance, and technology plans.
Support the development of the company’s business model, risk framework, and operational policies.
Provide strategic insights on governance, compliance, and organizational design.
Participate in building the company’s structure and readiness for post-licensing growth.
Offer leadership and direction in defining long-term operational and strategic priorities.
🎓 Requirements:
Proven leadership experience within a regulated financial institution (EMI, API, PSP, Bank..).
Strong understanding of Latvian and EU financial regulations, especially EMI frameworks.
Previous involvement in financial licensing process will be considered a strong advantage.
Strategic mindset with practical knowledge of compliance, governance, and financial operations.
Ability to collaborate effectively with founders, regulators, and international stakeholders.
Comfortable in a part-time, advisory role.
Resident of Latvia.
Fluency in Latvian, Russian, and English.
