Head of Card Acquiring

Our client — a reputable and well established online Open Banking payment provider — is expanding its product by launching a Card Acquiring solution to serve e-commerce businesses across the EEA and UK.
We are looking for a Head of Card Acquiring to take ownership of this product line — from go-to-market strategy and partner acquisition to sales enablement and product positioning.
💼 Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the strategy for Card Acquiring product development, go-to-market, and partner acquisition.
- Identify and onboard strategic partners (e.g., PSPs, Gateways, ISOs) and build strong working relationships with them.
- Develop a commercial model and positioning that complements the company’s existing Open Banking solution.
- Lead merchant acquisition efforts by designing sales tactics, supporting business development teams, and driving revenue growth.
- Oversee the product lifecycle, including pricing, product overview documents, sales materials, and competitor analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (tech, compliance, operations) to ensure smooth product delivery and optimization.
- Stay on top of card scheme regulations, industry changes, and compliance requirements.
🎯 Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 3+ years of experience in card acquiring, payments, or fintech, with a strong understanding of the card acquiring ecosystem.
- Proven track record in building and scaling card acquiring services or closely related payment solutions.
- Experience working with Visa, Mastercard, or other card schemes would be considered as an advantage
- Ability to create a clear product vision and translate it into actionable sales and partnership strategies.
- Commercial acumen with a deep understanding of the needs of e-commerce merchants.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on attitude.
