Our client, a Lithuania-based Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) currently in the process of obtaining MiCA compliance, is seeking a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to join its Board of Directors. Licensed in Canada, Lithuania, and the Netherlands, the company is dedicated to setting new standards in the cryptocurrency industry by providing a secure and user-friendly platform that supports seamless crypto trading, P2P transactions, and fiat deposits/withdrawals. Committed to compliance with global regulations, the company’s mission is to deliver innovative crypto products designed to meet the evolving needs of users while ensuring reliability and accessibility.
While awaiting MiCA approval, the company will remain low-operational, with greater involvement required from the CCO/Board Member once regulatory approval is obtained.
🔍 Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the company’s compliance with Lithuanian regulatory requirements, including but not limited to AML/CTF laws, MiCA regulations, and data protection standards.
- Develop and implement a robust compliance framework, policies, and procedures to support the company’s operations and MiCA application process.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the Bank of Lithuania and other relevant regulatory authorities.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and ensure the effective monitoring and reporting of compliance risks.
- Oversee the implementation of KYC/AML procedures and ensure alignment with both Lithuanian and EU regulations.
- Provide training and guidance to the team on compliance-related matters to maintain a strong culture of compliance.
- Prepare reports for the Board of Directors on compliance performance and regulatory updates.
🎓 Candidate Requirements:
- At least 4 years of experience in a senior compliance role (e.g., Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Compliance, MLRO) within the Banking or FinTech sectors, particularly EMI, API, PSP, MSB, VASP, or MiCA-regulated companies.
- In-depth understanding of Lithuanian AML/CTF regulations, MiCA requirements, and relevant EU compliance standards.
- Fluency in Lithuanian and English is essential.
- Must meet the standards of the Bank of Lithuania to serve as a Board Member.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to manage complex regulatory processes.
