Our client, a large licensed crypto exchange provider in Estonia, is looking for a Managing Director to join their leadership team. Since 2016, the company has been a pioneer in digital payments and blockchain technology, delivering a smooth and reliable trading experience.

The company offers a user-friendly platform, supporting major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple. With multiple payment options like debit/credit cards and SEPA transfers, the platform ensures accessibility for novice and experienced traders alike.

The company currently employs more then 70 people, with half of them hired in the past year, showcasing its steady growth.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

As Managing Director, you will oversee strategic market entry, regulatory compliance, partnership development, and operational management, driving the company’s growth. 

• Strategic Leadership. Develop and implement the company’s strategic plan to capitalize on market opportunities. Analyze trends and drive market entry initiatives for expansion.
• Operational Oversight. Lead day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth workflow and operational efficiency. Manage budgets, forecast financial outcomes, and align decisions with strategic goals.
• Team Management. Guide and mentor cross-functional teams to foster a high-performance culture. Set clear goals, delegate tasks, and support team development.
• Stakeholder Relations. Build and nurture relationships with partners, customers, and regulators. Negotiate contracts and represent the company in key discussions.
• Risk and Compliance. Oversee regulatory compliance and implement robust risk management practices.

🎓 Candidate Requirements

• Extensive experience in the financial services, fintech, or payments industry.
• Proven track record in launching and scaling operations in highly regulated markets.
• Strong expertise in product development, payment solutions, and technical integrations.
• Background in building strategic partnerships with financial institutions and payment providers.
• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, including compliance and operations.
• Residency in Estonia is a must.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with high-growth fintech startups.
• Knowledge of the European market and regulatory framework.
• Advanced degree (MBA or relevant field) is a plus but not mandatory.
